Cats to the Left of Me, Cats to the Right of Me, Cats Before Me, Cats Behind Me...

December 18, 1996

When I pulled into the parking lot of the shelter, I saw Jaguar looking out the window of the laundry room. I said hello and waved, and I swear he recognized me. I brought Jaguar a catnip bag I bought for him in Adamsville on Sunday. He rubbed against it, batted it around, then lost interest. I put it in his cage for him.

Buddy got adopted!!!! He's a cute black and white dude who fought with the other cats and had to be kept in all the time so it's really good to know he's found a home where he can run around and terrorize the inhabitants to his heart's content. Mystery (one of the black cats from Cove Marina) also got adopted this week. Teddy too.

Lindsay is still in love with the step ladder. Alice wants me to clean with her on my shoulder. Juliet didn't hurt anybody today. Peter sat in Eileen's lap for the board meeting, which was good because it gave me a chance to completely strip his cage and give it a thorough cleaning. He is one messy cat. Someone donated bouncing Santa toys for the kitties. I tried to get Alice interested in one but she wasn't buying it. She just wants to spend life on my shoulder. The kittens love the toys though.

I think I have some of Alice's ear mite medicine on my neck. Nice to know I won't get feline ear mites.

Didn't make it to the insurance appraiser this afternoon. I'll try to do it tomorrow or Friday. The Auntmobile doesn't look too bad, drives just fine. And I just don't feel like the hassle right now.

Bought, signed, addressed, and stamped Christmas (and solstice) cards this afternoon. Mailed half of 'em. Did a little more shopping. Better not say who I got what for because they may well be reading this journal ( I get mail addressed to Robo-Aunt...).

Wilbur is still frustrated that the big storm took down his favorite bird watching tree, the enormous lilac in the front yard. He watches it like television. Not so many lbj's (little brown jobbies) out there for him to watch without the lilac tree (bush? - this thing was huge). He sits in the window and meows like he wants me to change the channel on the bird-o-vision.

The rain stopped and the sun came out for a couple of hours this afternoon. We're supposed to get 2 inches of rain and flooding in low lying areas tomorrow though. We're having a heat wave. Kids were out rollerblading in their shirtsleeves. Chris was wearing shorts at Starbucks. The temperature was in the high 50's maybe even 60! It smells like spring. Very strange and a little disconcerting but nice too.
